Customized trainings

Every campus and community is different: a training for conduct officers looks different from one built for residence life staff, faculty, students, or Civil Rights Compliance Offices. All trainings below are tailored to your institutional context, and most can be delivered as standalone sessions or combined into a multi-part sequence.

  • Restorative Practices 101

    Format: 2-3 hours · In person or virtual · Any size

    The essential introduction for campuses exploring restorative approaches. Ideal for leadership teams, department retreats, student affairs divisions, or full-staff convenings that need a shared starting point before investing in deeper work.

    Participants leave with a working understanding of the restorative philosophy, the key modalities used in the field, a shared vocabulary, and a concrete picture of what restorative practices could look like at your institution.

  • Circle Keeping for Community

    Format: 3 days · In person · Cohorts of 8-16 participants

    Circle is a highly flexible practice for building strong, healthy communities. Over three days, participants learn to facilitate community-building Circles through hands-on practice.

    Participants leave ready to keep Circles in their own contexts: residence halls, classrooms, staff teams, student organizations, and beyond. This training is a strong fit for residence life staff trainings, orientation teams, student affairs departments, and any group charged with building community on campus.

  • Restorative Justice Facilitation

    Format: 3 days · In person · Builds on prior RP training

    Community building is the foundation that allows us to address harm in a deeper way. This advanced training develops skills to facilitate restorative responses when harm has occurred between members of a campus community, including both Circles and Restorative Conferences.

    Participants leave with facilitation skills they can use in their own institutional context and a framework for deciding which process fits which situation. Designed for staff who will carry restorative casework: conduct officers, deans of students, residence life professionals, ombuds staff, and members of campus RJ programs.

Our work can focus on any of the below, or a combination of them as needed:

  • Restorative Practices in Student Conduct - training conduct officers to offer restorative processes with or alongside traditional ones.

  • Restorative Approaches for Residence Life - equipping RAs, RDs, and res life professionals to build community proactively and respond restoratively.

  • Restorative Practices for the Classroom - supporting faculty in building community, navigating difficult conversations, and responding to classroom harm.

  • Building & Sustaining a Campus RJ Program - for institutions ready to move from individual practitioners to a formal program. (Often paired with organizational consulting)

My trainings are grounded in the understanding that harm happens in context: participants learn to facilitate with attention to power, identity, and equity, because circles that ignore these dynamics reproduce them. For greatest impact, train a mix of participants from across campus to promote a sustainable whole-campus approach. Many of my longest client relationships (including Haverford and Yale, whose programs I supported through launch) began with a single training.
